MORE PRACTICE

Here's a few shots of two of my girls (i.e. students) who graciously allowed me to take their pics. Actually, I was practicing my one-point focusing techniques with the 50mm 1.8 lens (which by the way, is my worst lens and I hate it!).
What do you think? Did it work? Where do you see the focus?
Also, the two versions of the shots are the SOOC and the PP'ed shot.

TFL!

I like the post processed shots. But I also like them SOOC :) I don't know what hte focusing techniqued is, but whatever it is - the pictures look great! Your duaghters are gorgeous!

I laughed at your post...you hate the 1.8 eh? I think you did pretty good on these and you did a good job with the focus with this lens. I like the angle too, not too much, yet effective. Did you an action at all, or was it your own PSing? I like the lighting, seems to really fit the photos. They look like fun girls, with tons of personality. I "think" I may actually like the coloring best on the first versions, looks a bit more natural. I also think these would look FAB in BnW...sorta that moody feel you know?

Oh yea, and I see the focus on the corner of the right eye on the first and the left on the second...am I close even?

I'm liking the colors in the pp'ed ones. And the focus looks great to me, though focus is my biggest weakness so my word might not be all that reliable...

These are great! I think I like the coloring on the first versions best, though... Your focus looks good to me! I'm glad that I'm not the only one who isn't in love the 50mm 1.8. I'm struggling with it, but I think it's mostly because I rarely take off the 100mm!

Cristina, your focus looks really good on these to me! Do you have noiseware or portraiture yet? Girl #2 could use some skin softening, especially on her forehead. If you don't have portraiture, you could use noisewear on it;s own layer, and brush back in detail everywhere but on the skin.

These are Nice Shots:) I like them but I do ;ike the SOOC ones better I think. Something about the skintones in the pp'd ones. I'm with you on the lense thing....I don't really care for it but I see everyone's beautiful shots with it and am forced to give it another shot:) again!

Great shots. Love the lighting and the PPing. I'm with you on the lens, but I think you did much better than me. What aperture did you use?

i really like the sooc ones...the pp'd looks a little yellow on my screen. could be me though. for not loving this lens i think you did great! the focus looks pretty darn good to me!

For me and my untrained eye I see the focus on one of the eyes. Top picture on the right eye...lower one the focus is on the left eye.
Is this what you wanted? On the top one I am also drawn to the piercings.

these are great shots, but i think i like the second the best. i think it is because you can see both eyes well..it's probably hard with brown eyes. i'm used to blue eyes... the sooc color and exposure looks good too...but it must be nice to have the willing models though...

Hi Cristina, I just read you comment and hope you get this before you leave. First off have a awesome time as Im sure you will, take numerous pics of the same thing so you at least get one good one of the same thing. Im not sure if you read my reply but I took my 50mm and barely used it but if your going to get portraits with something cool in the background then it will be a perfect lens to take, if you are basically getting pics like I got I would take your kit lens this way you can zoom in or out but just keep it at a low shutter speed like 100. In low light you will need a tripod or at least the bean bag if you can use it, I used the bean bag on my shots of the fountains in front of the belagio but with as much light that comes off the fountains you might be able to get some good shots hand holding. The good thing about taking the 50mm is that its a small lens so it doesnt take up much room. Im thinking you might want to take the 50mm for portraits, the 85mm for closer subjects and your kit lens in case you want to zoom in on something, I used my 24-70 probably about 95% of the time I was there. Also im not sure if you have one but if you have a polarize filter it works really good outside, during the day when the sun is really harsh. I hope this helped you some and hope you have a great time but try not to loose all your money, lol. Cant wait to see what you come up with when you get back.
