First Holy Communion

DD will be receiving the Holy Eucharist this Sunday for the first time...or so I thought... You see, today she received the sacrament of Reconcilliation...and while we were there waiting for her turn to go to confession... The director of the religious education program says very non-chalantly.. "and we'll still continue to meet until May 6th when we'll have our First Communion celebration..." Parents looked at each other like...what?? She just said May 6th...Oh well, I guess I'll be going to Austin this weekend to see our Rivera Soccer team compete in the state finals... Just gotta make the best of it...plus I didn't have anything 'nice' to wear anyway...

SPECS: ISO 100, Manual Mode, in RAW, AV 11, SS 1/250, studio lights

PP: Resized and cropped (all of them), Linna's Sepia (on the sepias), Glambur (on all). No color popping this time...maybe I should have huh?

The lighting is wonderful!!! Love the moody, solemn feel to them. And she's beautiful!

Good luck finding something nice to wear!

You're on theme...SON, get it??

These are lovely, what a precious memory for you and for her. I can appreciate these, eventhough I'm not Catholic personally. I know that this is a BIG deal and one of the BIGGEST commitments ever! Your lighting tells a story and adds emphasis where it should.

I personally like the color, but that sepia also adds a certain softness (not in focus) to these moments. Maybe you'll have to print off a set in both to see which ones you like better in print.

Thank you for sharing this moment with us!!

The pictures came out fantastic! I remember you asking for ideas, but I think you did a better job than any of the other pictures :) My stepson doesn't receive his first communion until June! Your daughter is beautiful :) God Bless.

Beautiful shots. Very professional. They really give you a feeling of reverence. Well done.

#4 is my favorite. I love the mood you captured.

I wish I had my good camera back when my daughter made her first communion. You should see the "professional" shots I had taken. PeeeUuuuu they were stinko!!! The "photographer" had her kneeling on a brown kneeler with a huge red hand rest thingy. RED!!!! It was so cheesy and awful.

Oh, Cristina!!! These gave me goosebumps! You did fabulously, girl! WOW!!!
The only cc I would offer is that on the fourth one, there's something about the pose that I don't care for as much- I'm not sure if it is where her eyes are focused, or that her chin is raised_ maybe the same with her chin down, or her eyes raised, KWIM? But seriously, these are simply stunning. Wow.

Congrats on the summer gigs. You are going to have a fun summer for sure. As for the lens, I've been vaguely entertaining the idea of the one you're going with- maybe we should arrange joint custody of our lens collection? ;)

Girl, you completely rock.

she is beautiful. I love the lighting on these, almost makes her look like she's praying and God's light is shining directly on her... KWIM? Nice job.
